Bible Passage 2 Samuel 11:6-14
David’s soldiers had gone to war but Uriah was asked to come back to see king David. All that David said to him was “ go back home and rest” and if he was not a good soldier, he would just have done so. If he was a lazy soldier he would have used the excuse that it was the king who instructed or ordered him to go home and he must obey. Instead, Uriah remembered that the other soldiers were out on the battle field and be could not therefore imagine going home to enjoy himself.
David had ungodly plans because he wanted Uriah’s wife. That is why in verse 14 of today’s passage, he asked the officer in charge to put Uriah at the battle front where he could be easily killed. This is the same king David who had always feared God! We must be careful at all times not to allow the devil to make us sin.
TODAY’S ACTION
Are you a good soldier for God? A good soldier must not be lazy in doing God’s work. Make sure that from today, you try harder to do all your work in the house, in school and in church. A good soldier I’d diligent in doing God’s work.
