DAY 54   MOSES BREAKS THE TABLETS IN ANGER

Bible Passage: Exodus 32:15-20

When Moses got down from the mountain and saw what the people had been doing, he was so angry that he threw the tablets down. Would that have solved the problem? No, in fact Moses had to spend a long time (forty days and forty nights) carving out another set of of tablets by himself and waiting for God to speak to him on top of the mountain again (Exodus 33:1). Some people believe that it was because of this type of anger that God punished Moses and did not allow him to go into the promised land.

We must be careful when people annoy us not to sin against God. Even Moses who was such a great leader and God fearing man made this mistake that could have been avoided. We should never allow our anger to control us; instead when anything or anyone makes us angry, we should pray immediately for God to help us not to sin.

Is there any way in which your anger made you sin recently? Have you asked for forgiveness? If not, do so now and pray that the Holy Spitit in you will always help you to control your anger and not sin against God.
