DAY 52 THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Bible Passage : Exodus 20: 1-17
Optional Additional Reading Ex 18, 19, 20: 18:21-36, Ex.21-31
The Ten Commandments given to Moses by God were to help the Israelites remember God and keep peace among the people. They were written on two tablets by God’s finger (Exodus 31:18). They touch on the various aspects of human life where there may be problems and disagreements. If everyone knew the laws and kept them, there would be no sin.
More explanations on the commandments are written in the next few chapters (21-31). Clear instructions are given on the various activities that will help the people to keep the commandments and have no doubts about what is right. The commandments still apply to us today but are we obeying them?
TODAY’S ACTION
Memorize the Ten Commandments and recite them as many times as possible.
Think deeply about what each one means and if you do not understand any of them, ask one of your parents, Sunday School Teacher or a Christian School Teacher or Senior to explain it to you today.
