DAY 44 PHARAOH WANTS HIS SLAVES BACK

Bible Passage : Exodus 14:1-9

One would have thought that with the amount of sorrow that the 10th plague (death of first born sons) caused all Egyptian families including that of the king, no one would ever want the Israelites to return to Egypt. The Egyptians had begged them to leave with their problems so that they, Egyptians could have some peace. Probably, the Egyptians could not do all the work they had made the Israelites do therefore Pharaoh wanted his slaves back! A slave is someone who is not free to live as he/she wants. He/she is forced to work for a master.

The passage of todaytells us that God wanted to prove to all that His power is greater than any other power and that is why Pharaoh became so stubborn that he wanted his slaves back. You will see later what Pharaoh’s stubbornness and disobedience of God’s instruction caused him and his country.  WHEN GOD DELIVERS, NO OTHER POWER CAN ENSLAVE

Sometimes the devil tempts us to do those things that the Holy Spirit of God warns us not to do. If we listen to the devil, then we are not allowing the Holy Spirit to control is. It is only when we allow the Holy Spirit to control us that we can defeat the devil. We must always trust only the Spirit of God, not”mammy water”, “babaláwo”, “jùjú” or witches/wizards,  or any other powers to help us solve our problems.

TODAY’S ACTION : Think about times that you have been stubborn and the result. What did you get from your disobedience? Pray now to God to deliver you from the devil’s influence. Do not allow the devil to ever enslave you again. Ask for forgiveness and for the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh.
