DAY 39  THE FESTIVAL OF UNLEAVENED BREAD

Bible Passage: Exodus 12:15-20

This is another Jewish festival that God told Israelites to celebrate. It is a seven days period during which unleavened bread must be eaten. The first day, I.e. the 14th day of the month and the last day, the 21st, are set aside. It was considered by God to be necessary to remind the Israelites of the way He delivered them from slavery in Egypt, so that they will continue to obey His Laws. Just like the Israelites, we all have a tendency to forget God when things seem alright and we have no immediate problems. We run back to Him when faced with difficulties but disobey Him and Omot sinsehen we are comfortable. Instead of this festival, many Christians fast (go without food for a period) and pray for forgiveness.

TODAY’S ACTION

Decide on how you will remind yourself about avoiding sin. You may fast or choose a special time to pray about it, and remember, it is not enough just to fast or pray; you must listen and be obedient whenever the Spirit of God is telling you that something you are about to do is wrong.
