:THE PASSOVER FESTIVAL
Bible Reading: Exodus 12: 1-14.
The "Passover" is a Jewish religious celebration to mark the day that God passed over the houses of the Israelites but went into Egyptian houses and killed all their first born sons and even the first borns of their animals. Even the king's first son who was heir to the throne was killed. A heir is the person who becomes king after the death of his father and inherits his father's properties.
God instructed Moses that the "Passover" month should be regarded as the first month of the year. On the tenth day, the Israelites were to choose either a lamb or a young goat to be eaten by each household or if they will not be able to finish it, to share one between two families. On the 14th day, the lamb must be killed and its blood used to smear the door post of the house. On seeing this sign, God/God’s Angel of Death passed over the houses of the Israelites.

That night, the whole lamb was to be roasted and eaten with bitter herbs and unleavened bread; that is bread baked without yeast which normally makes it swell with air. They were to wear their clothes and sandals, eat quickly and be ready to travel. It is this night that is celebrated as the "Passover festival". You will see later in the Bible how the lamb is used as a sacrifice for sins. Do you remember how Cain used his crops as his own sacrifice to God while Abel used the best parts of a lamb, the first born of his sheep (Gen. 4)?

God wants you to obey Him at all times and to give to Him your best. Your best really, is complete obedience to any instructions He gives you. Start doing so TODAY.
