PHILEMON
Philemon was the owner of a slave called Onesimus, who ran away from his master. Through Paul, Onesimus became a Christian. Paul wrote Philemon to forgive his slave and to treat him from then on as a Christian brother.
DAY 335 BROTHER, NOT SLAVE
Bible Passage: Philemon 8-18
When a person becomes a Christian, he or she gains fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, cousins etc. in Christ. Philemon, even though he was a run-away slave, became a child to Paul when he became a Christian. Paul therefore wanted the master Philemon to also treat Onesimus as a brother in Christ. When we give up worldly things for Christ, we gain a lot more instead.
