This book describes a period of damages by locusts (insects which eat crops) and lack of rain as a warning of how it will be on the "Day of the Lord". Prophet Joel warns the people to return to God or face those difficulties.

DAY 147. THE COMING OF THE LORD

Bible Reading. Joel 2:1-11.

The prophet describes the "Day of the Lord", that is, when the Lord will come as a dark and cloudy day. All those who do not repent of their sins will be destroyed just as locusts destroy plants. This is why we must tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ.  We do not know when He will come, but when He does, all those who continue to live in sin will be destroyed.
