JEREMIAH
This book tells us about prophet Jeremiah who like prophet Isaiah, warned the
people about the danger in worshipping idols and going against God's laws in many
ways. His predictions (things he said were going to happen in the future) came true
before he died. He warned about the fall of Jerusalem. The prophet lived during the
period that the following kings reigned: Josiah, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, and
Zedkiah. He reports that many of the kings in Israel and Judah sinned against God
and led their people into sin.
DAY 134 THE CALL OF JEREMIAH
Bible Passage Jeremiah 1:4-9
When God gives a person work to do, He also supplies what to use in doing it. God
spoke directly to Jeremiah as He did to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, young Samuel
and others. Jeremiah knew clearly that it was God speaking to him. His lips were
anointed (made clean and holy) by God, so that he could say all those things God asked
him to say without fearing anyone.
