Bible Passage: Esther 4:1-4, 10-12, 19-20, and 2:10, 17-18
It was wrong of Queen Vashti to disobey her husband, the king. She did not even give her husband any reasons why she could not go to answer him. She demonstrated pride and disrespect for her husband. Esther (formerly Hadassah) had no parents but stayed with her older cousin, Mordecai. Both of them had been taken as slaves from Jerusalem by king Nebuchadnezzar. Esther did not let anyone know this and she became queen to replace Queen Vashti whom the king disowned and punished. Just imagine how angry the king was with Vashti. We make God angry and unhappy when we disobey Him, but He always gives us a chance to repent and ask for forgiveness.
