Bible Passage : Exodus 16:22-30
Compare the instructions God gave the Israelites in yesterday’s passage with that of today.They are opposite instructions but given to suit each day. Since it was God who asked them to pick enough manna to last two days, it did not rot the next day when they were to rest (The Sabbath). Some people however still disobeyed and went out on the Sabbath to collect manna but found none!
Why do you think there was no manna on the Sabbath? That was God’s way of making sure that even the disobedient people had a sign to let them know that Moses was telling them the truth. The Israelites doubted Moses on many occasions in spite of the miracles God had performed through him.
Manna had been there for all to collect everyday but not on the Sabbath (the seventh day). Do you remember the story of the creation of the world? God rested on the seventh day too. The Sabbath to most today is Sunday and that is why in many countries there is no official work on Sunday except for those who provide essential services like doctors, nurses, water and electricity providers etc. Yet, workers are paid for Sunday. Are you already wondering whether or not you should study or do your home work on Sunday? Well, unless it is impossible, you should do all your reading and finish all your homework by Saturday. You can then rest on Sunday.

Start thinking about how you can study and do your homework before Sunday so that your Sunday is free for going to church or joining worship on-line, meditating on the Bible and watching or listening to programmes that will help your Christian growth.
