Exodus is the book about the escape of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, their wanderings through the dessert and arrival at the "promised land."
THE MAN CALLED MOSES
Bible Passage: Exodus 1: 8 - 22 and 2: 1 - 10
Exodus means "to go away from a place".
After Joseph's death, the new king (Pharaoh) knew nothing about how Joseph had saved the Egyptians from famine. This must have been many years after Joseph died and a lot of the Egyptians who knew of the history must have died too.
The increasing number of Isrealites who were now more than Egyptians made the king afraid because if they turned against the Egyptians, the Egyptians would lose. The king then made the Isrealites slaves. See how he also tried to reduce their number and their strength. Thank God for those midwives who were God fearing and did not want to commit murder. All God-fearing persons should not do what is against the will of God. God protected the baby Moses through the refusal of these 2 midwives to sin against God. Moses was the man who later led the Isrealites out of their slavery in Egypt.
