We celebrate the birth of Jesus during Christmas!

Just as is still done today in many countries, Jesus was named on the eighth day.  When it was time (40 days in many countries) He was taken to the temple to be dedicated to God.  In some countries, there is a party both for the naming ceremony and for presentation in church.  Parents may also put in an offering of thanksgiving to God. Mary and Joseph according to their own tradition took a sacrifice to the temple.  Luke does not say whether two doves or two young pigeons were used. When are babies named in your country?  When are they taken to church for presentation/dedication?
