King Ahab and his wife worshipped Baal instead of God. Both of them hated prophet Elijah because he told them that they were doing the wrong thing and making Israelites sin against God. This is why they were looking for him to kill. Elijah wanted God to show them who the true God is. Each time I read about what the prophets of Baal did to themselves so that their god could hear them I thank God that I do not need to do all that to talk to Him Just imagine having to cut yourself with a knife each time you want something from God! It is evil people (Satan’s children) who like to do rituals (strange, unnecessary and sometimes dangerous acts) like the prophets of Baal.
