Bible Reading Daniel 4:28-37
Nebuchadnezzar was a very proud and stubborn king. One would have thought that
after God saved Daniel’s friends from the fire, he would continue to respect God. He
thought power belonged to him and he was boasting. See how God humbled him! He
was crawling and eating grass like a cow … he was really mad and remained like that
for 7 years until he could think normally again and praised, God. God does not like
proud people.


TODAY’S ACTION
Write 4 bad things that happened to Nebuchadnezzar.

Bible Passage Daniel 3:1-6, 8, 12-14, 16-26
Can you imagine a gold statue that is 90 feet high and 9 feet wide? How tall are you
now? If you do not know, you should find out today. As tall and big as it was, the statue
was powerless. Even the king who made it and the people who worshipped it had to
confess that the God of Daniel, Meshack, Shadrach and Abednego was the only God
who could save people. The king ordered that only God should be worshipped
because even though the furnace was made seven times hotter, not even the hair on the
heads of Daniel’s three friends were burnt. God sent an angel to join them in the fire.


TODAY’S ACTION
Ask your dad about how tall you are or measure your height today.

DREAM.
Bible Passage Daniel 2:1-5, 11-17, 27-28, 46-47.
When you have time, you can read about Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the meaning.
Today, the passages we read remind us of how God solves our problems if we ask him
about them. Daniel did not know king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream or the meaning but he
and his friends prayed to God to tell them, and He did. That made the pagan king to
bow down in respect to God. All the other wise men who worshipped idols (dead
objects) could not help the king and they were all killed. We must not put our trust in
idols but in God. We must be like Daniel.


TODAY’ S ACTION
Pray for those who still worship idols that they will be able to know God.

The book of Daniel is a record on Daniel, one of the prophets who were in exile in
Babylon. The Babylonian king was a pagan (idol worshipper) and he treated the
Israelites badly. Daniel raised the people’s hope that God will deliver them.
DAY 140 IT IS GOOD TO EAT VEGETABLES
Bible Passage Daniel 1:3-17.


Do you like to eat vegetables? I know some children who do not, but it is because they
do not know what they are missing! The Bible does not say exactly which vegetables
Daniel and his friends ate but some people think it was mainly beans or beanlike
vegetables. There are many vegetables in different countries. They give us not only
energy, but a lot of Iron for making blood and vitamins which protect us from illness.
There are certain groups of people today who eat only vegetables. They must eat a
good variety to maintain a healthy diet.


TODAY’S ACTION
Ask your teacher about the type/group of foods vegetables belong to. Make a list of
the ones found in this country.

Everyday, we grow older. It is important to do as much as we can when we are still
young and strong. Have you seen old people trying to get something done? You
wonder why it takes them so long, and also why they sleep so much. For some who
worked hard when they were young, there is enough money for their needs but for
some, it is a life of begging or managing with poverty. The difference between a
successful person and a failure is that the later put in more effort.


TODAY’S ACTION
Recite the whole of Psalm 23. Pray that you will always work hard when it is time for
work.

This book is written by someone who looks at the pattern of human life. He talks of
various good and bad experiences of life and seems to think all is hopeless. We know
that with God, there is always hope. He can change a bad situation into a good one if
we do His will.


DAY 127 THERE IS A TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Bible Passage Eccl. 3:1-8
It is always better to do the right thing at the right time. If we plant crops when there is
no rain, what do we expect to harvest? The young plants will dry up and die. It is good
to know that God is in control of all that happens and that they happen at his chosen
time. This does not mean we should lie lazily in bed, expecting God to come and clean
us up or do our home-work. We already know what needs to be done and should do
them at the right time. We should also pray for God to guide us as we do different
things during the day.


TODAY’S ACTION
Is there something you ought to have done yesterday but you did not do it? If it is not
tool late, get it done today. You should be memorizing the 6th verse of Psalm 23 today.

words of wisdom and were written by Solomon, the wisest king.


DAY 126 THE IMPORTANCE OF PROVERBS
Bible Passage: Proverbs 1:1-10
Proverbs are words of wisdom which have been put together through experiences in
life. Even those who think they are already wise have some things to learn from them.
They are good especially for young people and no one is too old to learn from them.
You may read some of them when you have a holiday. Think deeply about the advices
you read in today’s proverb and always try to remember them.

Read verse 10 again. Remember it when your friends want you to do something
wrong with them.

The book is about prophet Ezekiel who lived in Babylon before and after his people
were captured from Jerusalem. As a priest, he talked a lot about holiness and the
importance of the temple. He describes vision of God and God’s throne and writes about about his call as a prophet, warning about God’s judgement on Israel and her oppressors, comfort for Israel after the fall of Jerusalem and the restored nation and temple.


DAY 139 DRY BONES BECOME HUMAN AND LIVE
Bible Passage Ezekiel 37:1-14
Prophet Ezekiel, like other prophets had many visions and messages from God.
Today’s passage is one of the popular visions. It is God’s response to the cry of the
people of Israel when they were sober and asked God for forgiveness. The dry bones
represent the household of Israel (that is Israel and Judah) who had lost hope. God
forgave them and told Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones. The bones were returned
to normal, meaning that God will bring them out of Babylon where they were slaves
and return them to their own homes. He would also renew them spiritually. What a
merciful God and father we have.

Thank God for being so merciful and being a wonderful father to you.

God forgives us when we know we have sinned and ask for forgiveness. As unhappy as
the people were, they remembered God and were truly sorry for all their sins. Do you
think God forgave them? Of course, He did. God always fulfils his promises to us.
Since we sin in different ways, we must remember to ask for forgiveness everyday.

that the people had hope and trusted God to save them.


DAY 137 WEEPING OVER JERUSALEM
Bible Passage Lamentations 1:1-5
Sometimes, it is after we receive punishment that we become sober and sorry for
what we have done. We may have had several warnings that we will be punished but
we do not take notice or listen. That is what happened to the people living in
Jerusalem, they had several warnings from prophets but continued to do what God
said were wrong. It is better to change when warned than to learn from punishment.
Some punishments even lead to death and it will be too late to make corrections or ask
for forgiveness.


TODAY’S ACTION
Pray for a gentle, obedient heart that will make you take the right action when
warned. Pray also that you will be able to help your friends to learn from the lessons
in today’s passage.
